Challenge

ViewQwest is an Internet solutions provider anchored by its reliable network performance and committed bandwidth. Established in 2001, ViewQwest gained its reputation as a pioneer business communications company by being the first to commercialize numerous connectivity technologies in Singapore. ViewQwest provides a unique offering of customized Internet and telecommunication solutions for businesses in Singapore and across Asia.

As ViewQwest’s customer base continues to grow, the company’s manual approach to managing customer IP address allocation in Excel became unstable. ViewQwest was also managing DHCP configuration for the customers manually, with service delivery agents logging into DHCP servers to manually configure IP addresses for new customer provisioning requests. Configuration errors due to typos, copy/paste and misconfiguration were a weekly occurrence.

ViewQwest needed a system to manage IP address blocks and control the DHCP configuration with no manual intervention. The agents should only interact with a portal where they simply key in the customer details, and the rest of the details such as IP address allocation and DHCP configuration needed to be automated.

Solution

The new customer provisioning process has improved significantly as 6connect ProVision’s metadata support ensures correct IP address assignments and the DHCP Module coordinates and verifies any server configuration modifications prior to going live in production infrastructure. This eliminates user error,  reduces potential downtime for customers and streamlines the speed of service provisioning.

Further service provisioning automation using 6connect ACP has enabled ViewQwest to re-allocate service delivery agents to other processes due to the time saved. To aid in planning and strategy, ProVision’s IP address availability reports allow ViewQwest to purchase IP blocks ahead of time when existing ones are nearing exhaustion.
